All features are aimed at the utmost exclusivity and intimacy. From stylish interiors with splashes of African art and contemporary design to exclusive in-room dining, it’s the ultimate in understated luxury.
Paying homage to Sasakwa Lodge’s sought-after setting in the Serengeti and the rich cultural heritage of the region, interior decorators Cécile & Boyd highlighted tribal textures and large-scale African artefacts, offsetting it with a clever mix of clean modern lines and classic sophistication.
Adding to the laidback atmosphere that invites a complete sense of relaxation, informal African elements include the use of rough-hewn stone for the floors, warmed by natural woolen rugs. Raw textured grass dresses the walls and is punctuated by plastered sections in textured off-whites.
State-of-the-art linear furniture lit by mid-century fittings provide pleasing contrasts, while polished European and Indian antiques and architectural details add interesting focus points.
Romantic linens and cottons soften the overall look, which is held together by a soothing colour palette consisting of light and dark tones, off-whites and striking notes of vibrant cobalt green.
Ultimately ensuring a sensory experience that is sensual, warm and welcoming – while maintaining a sleek and contemporary edge – the design and décor of this exclusive hideaway for two refreshes, inspires and soothes in equal measure.
Singita’s 350,000-acre private reserve forms part of the Serengeti Mara ecosystem ensuring Hillside Suite’s proximity to some of the most prized year-round game-viewing on the continent. The reserve’s wildlife and ecosystem are protected and managed by the dedicated team at the Grumeti Fund, Singita’s non-profit conservation partner in Tanzania.
